Alex Ghanayem is passionate wildlife photographer who began his journey in 2010. His photography roots started nearly 40 years ago with his first assignment shooting high school football games, at night under the lights, with an all manual Pentax K1000, a 50 mm lens, and one roll of black & white film. Yet despite these challenges, he produced 2 or 3 photos each week for the student newspaper. With no formal training in photography, he honed his skills in visualizing where the action would be, exposure, light and composition. On special occasions, he would have 2 rolls of film to shoot a sporting event…
His formal training is in medicine and is a practicing orthopaedic spine surgeon. His vocation embraces technology, fine motor skills, focus and patience—all characteristics that serve him well photographing wildlife in their natural, untamed environments. Alex focuses on large mammals and some birds in North America, with plans to venture across the globe with camera in-hand.
